Commission failing citizens by not translating documents

The European Commission has been urged to publish its consultation documents in all 23 European Union languages or to provide translations on request, in order that citizens could feedback on proposals and get involved in a public debate on governance within the EU.
The lack of transparency is said by many commentators to be a major restraint on accountability chains in the union, with a group of Irish MEPs recently chiding officials for failing to translate papers into Gaelic.
